LEBARA

Clay, character, and a very good phone plan.

Most projects come together because the timing is right, the brief is exciting, and the right people happen to be available. The Lebara TV campaign was one of those. Through our long-time collaborator Andi Meier, we got connected with Berlin-based agency Spreefreunde and landed a full commercial campaign for Lebara. The kind of job you pick up the phone for immediately.

Andi Meier — The Man Behind the Clay

If you’ve never come across Andi’s work, prepare to fall a little bit in love with it. He’s a clay illustrator known for his bright, playful characters — someone who started playing with clay as a kid and, unlike most of us, simply never stopped. Over thousands of hours of practice, he’s taken that childhood instinct and refined it into something genuinely special: sculptures that feel instantly alive, warm, and full of personality.

Where Arne Comes In

Once Andi had the characters ready, it was Arne’s job to bring them to life through animation. Four characters, each with their own rhythm, their own way of moving, their own little world. That’s the beautiful tension at the heart of this kind of collaboration — the sculptor hands over something carefully crafted and the animator has to honor that craft while adding an entirely new layer of life to it.

It’s a dynamic that Arne and Andi have developed over years of working together, and it really shows. There’s a shorthand there, a shared sensibility, that makes the whole thing feel effortless — even when it absolutely isn’t.

The Full Team

A campaign like this takes a village, and this one had a great one:

  • Agency: Spreefreunde
  • Puppets: Andi Meier
  • Character Animation: Arne Hain
  • Motion Design: Monja Dietrich & Vincent Suttner
  • Compositing: Marvin Sprengel
  • Voice Recording, Sound Design & Mixing: Jan Brett

What We Love About This One

The Lebara campaign is a reminder of what clay animation does that nothing else quite can: it makes characters feel touchable. There’s a warmth and a slight imperfection to clay that audiences respond to without even knowing why. It feels human. It feels made.

Big thanks to Spreefreunde for the trust, and to Andi for being the best kind of collaborator: wildly talented and genuinely fun to work with.
